Apply for My Spark Denver

Parents/guardians should apply online on behalf of their child(ren).

Who is eligible?

To be eligible for the My Spark Denver pilot program, students and their families must meet the following eligibility criteria.

  • Enrolled in a Denver Public School (including Denver charter schools)
  • Enrolled in middle school (grades 6, 7 and 8) for the 2023-2024 school year
  • Family must be eligible for free or reduced price lunch

How does it work?

  1. Apply to participate online.
  2. Once a student is approved, their family will receive a $1,000 debit card that can only be used at participating My Spark Denver programs.
  3. Choose from 100+ afterschool and enrichment programs listed on the My Spark Program List.
  4. Register for programming directly with the program provider of your choice. Use your My Spark Card to pay.

What will I need to show that my family is eligible?

  • Your child’s Denver Public School ID number.
  • Proof that your family is eligible for free or reduced price lunch (FRL). This can be from the 2022-2023 school year OR the 2023-2024 school year.

How will I show my family’s free or reduced price lunch status?

  1. Locate Free or Reduced Lunch (FRL) documentation that includes your student’s name, their FRL eligibility and their DPS Student ID, by doing ONE of the following:
    • Apply for School Meal Benefits at myschoolapps.com and receive a verification letter. (If you qualify for other programs that make your child automatically eligible for free school meals, please still apply through myschoolapps.com to get a letter.)
    • Complete the My Spark Free or Reduced Lunch Eligibility Form and get it signed by your school.
    • Find a copy of your verification from last school year (2022-2023).
  2. Upload the document as part of your My Spark Denver application.

ALL KIDS should have access to experiences that spark joy and purpose.
